Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, is a city in the south of Croatia, named after an oak forest. Its city walls are actually sets of forts that surround the old part of Dubrovnik. They were built from the 13th to the 17th century for defence purposes. They are 1.940m long, up to 25m high, 4-6m thick on land, and 1.5-3m thick towards the sea. On all four sides of the world, they are protected by towers. In addition to the city walls, there are other must-visit places in this beautiful city like palaces, churches, the Duke’s palace, fountains, fortresses are much more. The main street, Stradun, is one of the most famous streets in Croatia. The rows of cafes and restaurants in Stradun give the true experience of daily coffee drinking, a Croatian tradition. Come, take a walk with us through the most famous Croatian walls, and get to know the jewel of our heritage.
